Victorian townhouse

On three storeys, the property is large and light-filled, with six bedrooms, a dining kitchen, lounge, study and three bathrooms. It was in good order, but needed personalising and styled. The aim of this project was to create an interior for a family home that was warm, practical, inviting and relaxed. It had to reflect the personalities of all the family members who lived here. Think luxury chic with a dash of vintage and some modern touches.

We styled and dressed the house from top to bottom. We used the Farrow and Ball paint range throughout, from Elephant’s Breath in the Reception Hall to Cream 44 in the lounge. We added character with paintings, accessories and statement lighting. The fabulous curtains and cushions in the kitchen with painted birds are one-off pieces featuring the work of the artist Iona Buchanan. The lounge mixes comfy sofas, tactile throws rugs and upholstered furniture. We covered the antique wooden chairs with a contemporary tartan fabric. Up on the first floor, we created a truly stunning bathroom. It was completely refurbished and Heritage sanitary ware was installed. The show piece is the floor of mismatched Moroccan tiles (spotted in a magazine by Bridget and tracked down to a French company operating in Brussels). We created a tranquil master bedroom using duck egg blue soft furnishings and some beautiful art. The other bedrooms were styled in consultation with the home-owners’ children, creating spaces that reflected their personalities and needs. The teenage boy wanted a bedroom that would double as a place to hang out with friends so we created a lounging area.
